Boris Johnson concerned about talks with EU
According to the British Prime Minister, unless the EU changes its position significantly, it is very likely that no deal will be reached, as this fisheries could become a judgmental disagreement in the last straight negotiation of a future trade deal.
"They tell us that we should be the only country in the world that will not have sovereign control over its own fisheries. I do not believe that any prime minister would accept such conditions," Boris Johnson explained in the House of Commons.
The lack of an agreement before December 31, 2020, when the post-Brexit transition period ends, means that from next year, trade between the UK and the EU will be governed by the general rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO), i.e. tariffs, amounts quantitative and other barriers.
