On Monday, government regulation on restrictions and prohibitions in connection with the state of the epidemic will enter into force. The restrictions are expected to apply until January 17, 2021.

Pursuant to the new regulations, from December 28, retail and service facilities with areas exceeding 2,000 sqm will be banned from retail. There are, however, a few exceptions. The shopping malls will be open to grocery stores, pharmacies, drugstores, bookstores, pet stores, DIY stores, furniture stores with car accessories, and telecommunications services.

Retailing or service activities in the trading islands will also be prohibited.

The regulation also extends the ban on playing halls in shopping malls until January 17.

It should be remembered that in shops and post offices will still apply, inter alia, people limits. There may be no more than 1 person per 10 sqm in the case of facilities with an area of not more than 100 sqm at a time. In turn, in the case of facilities and facilities with an area of more than 100 sqm, 1 person per 15 sqm can stay at the same time.

Hotel operations will be limited even more from Monday. With the new regulation, the broad provision allowing people to stay in hotels during a business trip disappears. Instead, it has identified people with specific professions that could benefit from the exception. These include drivers engaged in road transport, plane crew and train crew, state service officers, and soldiers.

As before, the exception was also provided for people working in the medical profession as well as athletes, coaches, and staff members. According to the regulation, such persons will have to confirm that, while staying at the hotel, they are the people they claim to be and use the accommodation on business.
